Donít wait for a trip to the veterinarian to teach your dog how to travel politely in the car. Teach him to ride quietly in a crate, or use a special harness that can be attached to a seat belt to hold him in place.
WHY A DOG SHOULD NEVER TRAVEL LOOSE IN A CAR:
If you get into an accident, he may be thrown around, injuring you as well as himself.
After an accident, he may hold the police and paramedics at bay , or run out of the vehicle into traffic as the emergency personnel try to reach you.
If he sees a distraction and suddenly barks in the driverís ear, the driver may lose control.
He may escape from the car through an open window and be lost in a strange area.
Never leave him alone in your car - may heat up in the sun to life-threatening levels, and if heís loose, he may become bored and shred your seats!
Donít allow him to ride with his head out the window. This can cause an eye injury.
Donít allow him to ride in the back of a pickup truck, even if he is tied down.
